Letter: Oppose the carbon tax

Oppose the carbon tax

Editor of the Reformer:

We, the members of the Whitingham Selectboard is strictly opposed to the proposed carbon tax. We feel this legislation would create higher taxes and greater economic uncertainty in the state by raising the tax on gasoline an incredible 88 cents per gallon. Most of Vermont is very rural and people have to travel many miles to get to their jobs — if they are lucky enough to have one. Most of the job postings in our area are minimum wage or slightly above. This new tax would be a burden on workers.

We strongly wish our state representation oppose this proposed legislation.
