Letter: Please train and leash your dog
Please train and leash your dog
Editor of The Reformer:
Unless they are very well trained, dogs are dangerous. I haven't had a bicycle accident in years but today an un-tethered dog ran from her owner's grasp, raced barking toward me and jumped in front of my bicycle. Moving at only about 15 miles per hour I ran over the dog and fell onto the gravel road. Neither the dog nor I was seriously hurt, but either or both of us could have been if the circumstances were just a little different.
If you can't take the significant amount of time to train a dog well, then please keep it leashed. Otherwise your dog and or a bike rider could be seriously hurt or killed, and you will be liable.
