Letter: Stay off the dirt roads

Stay off the dirt roads

Editor of the Reformer:

I was maneuvering deftly around the Exit 3 round-about, as I like to do, and just in time, I remembered to go the long way home. I headed on to 91 North instead of Route 5. I was opting not to drive the dirt back roads through Dummerston. I am trying to be a good neighbor and not stir up so much dust.

The dirt roads are very dry and just one car going even a sedate 25 to 30 mph kicks up a choking cloud of dust. Anything living near by gets a desiccating dousing.

Please consider slowing down. Your human neighbors, the plants and the animals in forest and on farms will thank you.

Greenough Nowakoski Putney, Jan. 8
