Lind bests 11 other runners in Fun Run's three-mile race


BRATTLEBORO -- The winners at Wednesday's Fun Run on Upper Dummerston Road were: Cadance Gilbert (1 Mile), Katherine Innis (2 Miles), Robert Lind (3 Miles) and Fred Ross/Hank Lange (2.4-mile Trail Run).

Gilbert took the one-miler in 8:40. Peyton Joslyn was next in 12:11, and Jace Joslyn finished third in 12:12.

In the two-mile heat, Innis ran away to victory in 14:49. Gregory Fitzgerald took the silver in 16:10 and Marshall Gilbert earned the bronze with a time of 16:30.

The order of finish for the three-mile race looks like this: 1. Lind, 17:17; 2. Clint Joslyn, 17:27; 3. Bob Parks, 17:32; 4. Dan Barile, 17:48; 5. Brian Lashway, 19:34; 6. Chuck Adams, 23:19; 7. Scott Hamm, 23:59; 8. Eric Evans, 24:00; 9. Starr Bruce, 24:31; 10. Angella Joslyn, 24:55; 11. Cathy Coutu, 30:44; 12. Serge Pouliot, the 2013 Australian Start champion, 33:16.

In the 2.4-mile trail run, Fred Ross and Hank Lange both crossed the finish line in 25:27.

Soccer officials training

Anyone interested in becoming a member of the Vermont Soccer Officials Association and becoming eligible to officiate varsity and sub varsity soccer games is encouraged to attend one of two training sessions in Vermont this August.

The first training is at Williamstown High School on Friday, Aug. 22. The second training is being held at Whitcomb High School in Bethel, on Aug. 23. The training includes learning the rules of the game, a test, and a field practice.
