Lions Club’s scholarship dinner to honor 3 LGUHS seniors
BRATTLEBORO -- The Valley Lions Club will host a dinner at the Brattleboro Country Club on Tuesday, June 24. The Lions will be honoring three deserving seniors from Leland & Gray Union High School in Townshend.
Brittany Bills will attend the University of Maine at Machias majoring in Marine Biology. She has been top in her class in Chinese, and has been recognized for achievements in Algebra, French, Earth Science, and has maintained high honors. Brittany worked on the yearbook, played varsity soccer and took two intensive painting classes. She is very well traveled having gone to London, Paris, and Italy. Brittany considers her strength to be the ability to listen to people.
Christopher Wilson will attend Bryant University and major in Finance/Economics. He was inducted into the National Honor Society and has received several top of class awards. He has played baseball and basketball all four years of high school. In his junior year he took an art trip to Italy. Christopher tutors students in Mathematics. In the last two years, in conjunction with the National Honor Society, he as helped with fundraisers for the Windham County Humane Society and the Townshend Food Shelf.
Aurora Calchera will attend the Massachusetts College of Art & Design and major in Industrial Design. She participated in the yearbook, designing pages and printing. She has displayed her art locally, which ended with her being honored with an award. She not only has done video recording, but she also worked backstage on the props and sets for the Leland & Gray Players. Aurora cares about the environment by picking up cans thrown on the side of the road and taking them to recycle.
The Valley Lions Club is proud of all of the students at Leland & Gray. They received some excellent applications and wish all of the graduating class best wishes in their future endeavors.
