Local Roundup: Twin Valley girls pull away


WHITINGHAM >> Kirra Courchesne pumped in a career-high 30 points, including 19 in the third quarter, to help Twin Valley past Poultney, 66-25, on Wednesday.

Tayler Courchesne followed with 14 points, four rebounds and three steals for the winners, who took a 25-17 lead to the break. Teya Johnson chipped in with seven points, four rebounds, four dimes and nine steals.

Leann Mason and Savannah Juckett scored eight and seven points respectively to pace Poultney (4-13).

The 9-8 Wildcats will play at Black River tonight at 6.

Boys Basketball

POULTNEY >> Nick Morrow went off for a game-high 23 points on Tuesday to power Leland & Gray to a 63-44 victory over Poultney.

Owyn White contributed with 13 points for the Rebels. Clayton Sanderson finished with a crazy eight.

Leland & Gray will host Bellows Falls on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

Men's Rec Basketball

BRATTLEBORO >> In Wednesday's play at the Gibson-Aiken Center, Brattleboro Ford/Subaru outscored Pancake Design 104-89 and Brown Enterprise defeated Dixon's Painters 78-65.

Greg Hecht and Ken Turner paced Ford/Subaru with 23 and 20 points respectively. Teddy Knutson poured in a game-high 25 points for Pancake.

Barry Chamberlain (20 points) and Shawn Goodell (18) were the top guns for the Enterprise. Ryan Boyle scored 22 points and Jim Gray added 20 of his own to lead the painters.
