Mallers win KSC Tournament


KEENE, N.H. >> The Brattleboro Mallers AAU and Zero Gravity boys basketball team racked up its seventh championship in eight tries. The Mallers upped their record to 26-3 as they travelled to Keene State College last weekend and had a revengeful win over the AFK Renegades out of Springfield, Mass. The Renegades defeated the Mallers 62-60 the week before to win the Zero Gravity Rival Week Tournament in Worcester, Mass.

Brattleboro squeezed out a 27-19 halftime lead en route to a 59-35 championship victory over the Renegades at KSC. Jake Blaisdell was the high scorer for the champs with 18 points. Tyler Martin followed with 12 points, and Calvin Lafland chipped in with eight points and eight rebounds.

Previously, the locals had wins over the NH Lakes Region Raptors 53-28, Nashua Boys and Girls Club 53-28, and NH Fire 31-9. Tucker Llewelyn netted 20 and 21 points in the first two games respectively. Brendan Emond had a strong weekend as he controlled the backboards.

The Mallers are off to Portland, Maine this weekend and then will travel to Montreal over Memorial Day Weekend.
