Man injured, several displaced in Vermont apartment fire


HARTFORD, VT. >> Fire officials say a man was injured and at least eight people were displaced after a kitchen fire destroyed a Vermont apartment building.

Firefighters arrived at the building around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in Hartford.

Interim Fire Chief Scott Cooney says a man told firefighters the blaze started in his kitchen. He was taken to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center with burns on his arms. It's not clear what his current condition is.

Cooney says damage to the building was extensive and deemed the building a total loss.

Firefighters contained the blaze at around 5:45 p.m. No other injuries were reported.

Officials are investigating the cause of the blaze.
