Man shot to death after bars close in Burlington

BURLINGTON, VT. — Vermont police are seeking a suspect in the fatal shooting of a man outside bars on Burlington's Church Street early Sunday.

The Burlington Free Press reports that police are not releasing the identity of the 29-year-old victim pending notification of his family.

Witnesses say the shooting took place at about 2 a.m. Sunday as patrons exited bars in the popular entertainment and shopping district. They told police two men were arguing before multiple gunshots were heard.

Burlington Police Chief Brandon del Pozo told the newspaper the man is not from the Burlington area.

Earlier this month, a man was arrested after being found with a loaded handgun after he was kicked out of Zen Lounge. Del Pozo said the incidents appear to be unrelated.
