Marlboro College recognized as 'Partner in HOPE'
BRATTLEBORO -- At "Celebrate HOPE," an event sponsored by United Way of Windham County held on Thursday, Oct. 3, Marlboro College & Graduate School was honored with the first annual "Partner in HOPE" award. The college was recognized for its support of community initiatives and partnerships with the United Way, such as providing in-kind space for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program and volunteers for the annual Day of Caring, as well as their leadership in nonprofit capacity building and statewide initiatives, such as Benchmarks for a Better Vermont.
In presenting the "Partner in HOPE" award, United Way's Executive Director, Carmen Derby, detailed the recipient guidelines, which included, "Acting as a role model for others in Windham County, partnering with United Way in multiple ways, and signifying a ‘bright spot' in the county related to a health, opportunity, prosperity, or education initiative."
Marlboro College's president, Ellen McCulloch-Lovell, accepted the award, acknowledging the role of college and graduate school faculty, staff and students in creating deep connections to United Way and Windham County through their volunteerism, financial support, and the sharing of their time, talent, and resources with the community.
Contributions in honor of Marlboro College can be sent to the United Way of Windham County at 28 Vernon Street, Suite 312, Bratleboro, VT 05301.
