McClelland places 28th in Walkway Marathon

BRATTLEBORO >> Dana McClelland, of Vernon, placed 28th overall and was the fourth female to finish in the Walkway Marathon on June 12 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Her time was 3:28:04 and the top three female finishers were Katie Messina (3:14:00), Abigail Williams (3:17:46) and Kara Lightowler (3:27:22).

McClelland won the Distaff Division in the 2015 Bill Powers Memorial Firecracker 4-Miler, which starts at Living Memorial Park and ends at the Brattleboro Town Common. She placed 12th overall in a time of 25:54, just ahead of Brattleboro's Heather Conarroe and Natalie Quintero of New York.

In last year's Catamount Half Marathon in Brattleboro, McClelland took fourth overall in 1:31:00. The top three finishers in that race were Williamsville's Tammy Richards, David Foster of New Hampshire, and Newfane's Mike Adrian.

In the 2014 Mad Marathon in Waitsfield, the Vernon resident ended up 27th overall in 3:36:09. That was good enough for the silver medal in the ages 30-34 female class.
