Meachen is Athlete of the Week

BRATTLEBORO — Brattleboro Union High School cross-country runner Josh Meachen is the latest WTSA/Auto Mall Senior Athlete of the Week. His coach, John Dimick applauded his hard work, which led to qualifying for the New England Cross Country Championships.

After helping the Colonels place fifth at the state meet, Meachen was one of four BUHS boys harriers named to the Marble Valley League Division A First Team. He was joined by teammates Isaac Freitas-Eagan, Jonah Koch and Colin Costa-Walsh.

At the state meet in Thetford, Meachen ended up 11th in a time of 18:00. The only teams to beat Brattleboro were CVU, South Burlington, Essex and Stratton.

Prior to that, Meachen finished fourth in 19:09 at the MVL cross-country championships in Manchester. The Colonels struck gold in that meet, ahead of MAU, Rutland and host BBA.
