Morrisville Food Co-op breaks ground on building renovation

Posted

MORRISVILLE, VT. >> The Morrisville Food Co-op in northern Vermont is breaking ground on a building renovation project this week after four years of planning and fundraising efforts.

Vermont Public Radio reports board president Sarah Thomas and a host of other co-op members were on hand Monday for the ceremonial groundbreaking.

Thomas told the crowd that "MoCo" can't wait to bring the first grocery store to the village's downtown in over 50 years.

Elmore residents Bob and Susan Titterton were also at the ceremony. The Tittertons purchased the building formerly housing a state unemployment office in downtown Morrisville and is financing its sale to the co-op. The couple is also supplying much of the funding to renovate the building's facade.

The co-op hopes to open this fall after renovations are completed.
