Mother’s Day focus will be ‘What is Grace?’ at Dummerston Church
DUMMERSTON -- Worship at the Dummerston Congregational Church on Mother’s Day, May 11, at 9:30 a.m. will focus on the question, "What is Grace?" The scripture lesson is Ephesians 2: 1-22, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of GodŠ"
The Children’s Story is about "Doubting Thomas," from John 20. There will be pansies for all women and girls to take home.
As part of our exploration of "Who we are and what we believe," there will be a movie shown Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. with soup and salad. "For the Bible Tells Me" is a moving series of real-life stories of five very normal, very Christian, very American families as these people of faith handle the realization of having, or being, a gay family member. Other contributors include Bishop Desmond Tutu, Harvard’s Peter Gomes, Orthodox Rabbi Steve Greenberg and the Rev. Jimmy Creech. Also shown Wednesday, May 21, 2 to 4 p.m. or by request.
Caring and Sharing, the church’s semi-annual clothing give-away is Friday and Saturday, May 16 and 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Donations of good, clean spring and summer clothing and household goods are needed, children’s and infants’ clothing especially. Children’s toys or furniture or any electronics will not be accepted.
The church, located at 1536 Middle Road in Dummerston Center, is a Green Justice Congregation of The United Church of Christ. For more information about this energetic, faithful, friendly and mission-oriented church, contact Pastor Susanna Griefen at 802-257-0544, firstname.lastname@example.org.
