Mother’s Day to be celebrated Sunday at Newfane’s Congregational Church


NEWFANE -- The First Congregational Church of Newfane will celebrate Mother’s Day at worship at 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 11. The Rev. Robert Hamm’s sermon is titled "The Holiness of Hospitality" with scripture from John 10:1-10.

Congregational hymns are "New Songs of Celebration," "The Lord My Shepherd Guards Me Well" and "Called as Partners in Christ’s Service." The choir will sing the anthem "How Lovely is the House of God" by Eugene Butler. Martha LaMoria, organist/music director, will play the prelude, "When There’s Love at Home" by J. H. McNaughton and arranged by Roger C. Wilson, and the postlude, "Song of Joy" by James Denton.

Events for the upcoming week include Al-Anon at 7:30 p.m. on Monday; Sew What’s at 5 p.m. on Tuesday; Ladies Aid at 10 a.m., Bell rehearsal at 5 p.m. and Church Choir rehearsal at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The church is handicap accessible by both elevator and chair lift and all are welcome. Church office hours are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Call the church office at 802-365-4079 or visit the website at for further information.
