New monthly Balkan Cafe to have live music by Tom Pixton and Yaron Shraqai


The new monthly Balkan Café at 118 Elliot St., will have live music by Tom Pixton and Yaron Shragai on Sunday, Feb. 7, 4 to 7 p.m.

Tom Pixton (accordion, vocals) is active as an International, Balkan, and Scottish folk dance musician. He has worked with many of today's most accomplished dance teachers and musicians as accordionist, pianist, band leader, music arranger, and CD producer. As a soloist with the Pinewoods Band, he has provided dance music for dance camps, workshops, and special events in the US, Canada, and Japan. Yaron Shragai (percussion, recorder, keyboard, guitar, vocals) is a common sight in the Boston area International and Balkan dance scene. He leads the international folk dance music group Blajini and co-leads a traditional Greek music group, Meraki.

Easy, beginner-friendly dances will be scattered throughout the evening with light teaching. All levels welcome! Suggested donation $12. More information 802-257-9513.
