Newfane Congregational to celebrate Pentecost Sunday this week


NEWFANE -- The First Congregational Church of Newfane will celebrate Pentecost Sunday at the 10 am worship service. Guest preacher will be Rev. Dr. James Scott whose sermon is titled "Pleasing God" with scripture for the book of Joshua, chapter 22, verses 29-34. Congregational hymns are "O Worship the King," "Spirit, Spirit of Gentleness" and "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God."

The choir will sing "Like the Murmur of the Dove’s Song" by Carl P. Daw, Jr. and Peter Cutts. Martha LaMoria, organist/music director, will play the prelude, "The Water is Wide" by Edward Broughton, based on an American folk tune, and the postlude, "Festival Finale in G" by Roger C. Wilson.
