N.H. gov marks state's 225th birthday

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan is celebrating the state's 225th birthday with a trip to Strawbery Banke Museum.

The U.S. Constitution officially took effect on June 21, 1788, when New Hampshire became the ninth state to ratify it. Hassan will mark the occasion Friday in Portsmouth, where she will speak about New Hampshire history and what she calls its vibrant civic society.

Strawbery Banke Museum is an outdoor history museum that features buildings and exhibits covering 300 years of American life. Friday's ceremony is part of New Hampshire Week at Strawbery Banke, when all state residents are invited to visit for free.
