N.H. unemployment rate stays the same
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) -- New Hampshire’s unemployment rate for October was 5.7 percent, unchanged from the September rate.
The October 2011 unemployment rate was 5.4 percent.
The number of employed residents was 698,160, an increase of 1,380 from September and a decrease of 1,920 from October 2011.
The number of unemployed residents increased by 160 over the month, to 42,190. This was 2,530 more unemployed than in October 2011.
State figures say from September to October 2012, the total labor force increased by 1,540 to 740,350. This was an increase of 610 from October 2011.
Nationally, the unemployment rate for October 2012 was 7.9 percent, an increase of 0.1 percentage point from the September rate and a decrease of 1.0 percentage point from October 2011.
