N.H. youth conference addresses foster care transition
MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - More than 100 youth currently or formerly in state care are gathering for a 10th annual conference in New Hampshire.
The conference is being held at Manchester Community College on Thursday.
The daylong conference focuses on youth age 14-23.
This year's keynote presentation and workshops are provided by FosterClub, an Oregon-based group founded on the belief that youth who have successfully transitioned from foster care to responsible young adulthood are best suited to impact the transition of their younger peers.
Among the topics being covered are how to obtain a college degree or educational certificate, earning and budgeting, being a self-advocate, self-awareness and avoiding dangerous relationships.
