PUTNEY -- Nimbus Dance Works presents a night of contemporary dance on Thursday at 7 p.m., at the Dance Studio, Serkin Center at Marlboro College. The performance features "Shadow of Sound" by Taiwanese choreographer Huang Yi performed by American and Taiwanese dancers, and Weidman’s 1936 masterpiece of socio-political dance, "Lynchtown."

This performance is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the Marlboro College marketing and communication office at 802-251-7644 or mbarone@marlboro.edu.

Charles Weidman’s "Lynchtown" (1936) is recognized as one of the classic works of American modern dance and a prime example of dance as a medium for socio-political expression and protest. "Lynchtown" was created by Weidman in response to witnessing a lynching in his home community of Lincoln, Neb., as a child at the turn of the century.

Huang’s interests in robots and his focus on the pure choreographic human form won him a place in 2011 among the world’s "25 to Watch" in Dance Magazine. For more information, visit www.nimbusdanceworks.org.
