NRC cancels session about N.H. nuclear plant

SEABROOK, N.H. (AP) - The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has canceled an open house and meeting regarding the Seabrook nuclear power plant because of the federal government shutdown.

According to reports, the commission had planned to hold a meeting in Hampton on Wednesday to discuss concrete degradation at the plant. Last year, the NRC said it would inspect areas of the plant where concrete was degrading due to a chemical reaction. The commission said the plant could continue to operate safely during the evaluation.

The meeting will be rescheduled.
