Ognenoff, Hornets off to 3-6 start

BRATTLEBORO — Brattleboro Union High School graduate Sam Ognenoff is playing second base and pitching for the Lyndon State College baseball team this spring.

The sophomore has 11 put outs, one assist, one hit, and has scored two runs in his team's first nine games. He went 1-for-4 and crossed the plate once when the Hornets defeated Hanover 10-3 on Feb. 28.

Lyndon State (3-6) has also downed Anna Maria and Rhode Island College this season.

After helping the Colonels to a 13-4 record during his senior year, Ognenoff was part of the Post 5 Legion baseball team that won the 2016 state championship. His Legion teammates were Chris Lasch, Chayse Cunniff, Leif Bigelow, Kassidi Ramirez, Dan Petrie, Kam Pelkey, Matt Dulmaine, Chris Hall, Ben Betz, Tommy Carroll, Steve Kerylow, Matt Boggio, Tanner Bell, and Tyler Germain.



The Business Administration major then had a pair of hits, drew seven walks, scored four runs, and swiped three bases during his first season with the Hornets.

April 5 — at Castleton, 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

April 7 — host Thomas, 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

April 8 — host Thomas, noon and 2 p.m.

April 11 — host New England College, 2 p.m. an4 4:30 p.m.

April 14 — at Maine-Farmington, 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

April 15 — at Maine-Farmington, noon and 2:30 p.m.

April 18 — host Castleton, 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

April 21 — at New England College, 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

April 23 — host MCLA, 3:30 p.m.

April 28 — at Husson, 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

April 29 — at Husson, noon and 2:30 p.m.

May 1 — host Plymouth State, 3:30 p.m.
