Paul Dedell's 'The Man Who Defied God" in an encore performance
This Friday at 7 p.m., Paul Dedell's fabulous new show, "The Man Who Defied God" will be presented in an encore performance at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, the corner of Putney Road and Bradley Avenue.
With musical direction by Susan Dedell, and featuring guest violinist Moby Pearson, "The Man Who Defied God" tells the complicated and rich story of the prophet Jonah with humor, pathos, and insight. The show follows Jonah on his journey through stormy seas, the belly of the whale, the fiery heat of the desert, and witnesses his encounter with giant plants and devouring worms as he wrestles with his decision to show love for those unlike him. Although the story of Jonah is set in the ancient Middle East during a time of conflict between the Jews and the Assyrians, the political and social conflict is startlingly contemporary.
