Pedestrian struck in Brattleboro Thursday night; police close Putney Road for several hours

BRATTLEBORO -- Emergency personnel responded to Putney Road Thursday night, right in front of America's Best, where a pedestrian was struck by a blue Subaru.

An eye witness at the scene said an EMT happened to be driving past the scene as it happened, and was able to provide immediate assistance. Shawn Holden, 42, of Brattleboro, had been struck by the vehicle had several visible wounds, but appeared to otherwise be alert as officials talked with him. He was later transported to a medical facility for treatment.

According to police, he was struck by a blue Subaru driven by Judith Palmer, 68, of West Chesterfield, N.H.

Brattleboro Police Department closed a portion of Putney Road (at the junction with Black Mountain Road) for several hours. They continue to investigate the incident.
