Pelz-Walsh earns academic honor
BRATTLEBORO >> Castleton University junior Soren Pelz-Walsh was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District I Team for his work on the field and in the classroom.
Pelz-Walsh has been Castleton's top receiver all year long and leads the Spartans in receptions (54), yards (874) and touchdowns (7). He has four games with over 100 yards receiving, including a season-high 180 versus Alfred State and 10 grabs for 149 versus Anna Maria.
During his team's four-game winning streak, the Brattleboro Union High School graduate hauled in a combined 27 passes for 386 yards and three scores. The Spartans are 5-0 this season when No. 14 has caught at least one TD pass.
Off the field, Pelz-Walsh is the Vice President of the Physical Education Club and was a member of the Castleton mentoring program the past two years. He has been named to the President's List three times and Dean's List once.
This marks the fourth consecutive year a Spartan has been named Academic All-District, as Kevin Alberque was selected in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
Castleton (6-3) will conclude its regular season with a home game against Norwich on Saturday at 1 p.m.
