Pianist Gutman performs at Marlboro College
MARLBORO -- Award-winning pianist Renana Gutman returns to Marlboro College for the first two concerts in this year’s Music for a Sunday Afternoon series, performing in Ragle Hall on Jan. 27 and Feb. 3, at 3 p.m.
The concerts are free and open to the public.
On Jan. 27, Gutman will perform Bach’s French Suite in C minor, Schubert’s Sonata in A minor and the Sonata in B minor by Liszt, considered his greatest composition for solo piano.
Then on Feb. 3, Gutman will be joined by violinist Tessa Lark and cellist Alice Yoo for a selection of piano trios. They will perform Beethoven’s Piano Trio in E-flat major, op. 1, no. 1 and Schubert’s Piano Trio in B-flat major, op. 99.
A Marlboro Music Festival participant, Gutman has performed across three continents and has been a top prizewinner at international piano competitions, including the Los Angeles Liszt competition. She is a graduate of Mannes College of Music, where she studied with Richard Goode and received both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree.
