Poetry Sunday at Congregational Church of Westminster West
WESTMINSTER WEST -- The Congregational Church of Westminster West will host Poetry Sunday this Sunday, Feb. 10, during its 10 a.m. worship hour. This Sunday, the last Sunday before Lent, is a time when the church traditionally celebrates Transfiguration. The idea behind Poetry Sunday is that every one of us finds ourselves surrounded by God’s love and the beauty of creation every day, if only we notice it. We can be transformed, possibly even transfigured by that grace. Poetry so often offers a special window into faith and grace, expressing our hopes and fears more eloquently than prose. Worship participants are encouraged to bring a poem to share - one that expresses love or grace, one that speaks something of their faith or expresses their doubt, one that shows them God or moves them to worship. These poems will form the bulk of the service, being interwoven with prayer and singing. A brief meditation will be offered by Rev. Susie Webster-Toleno, and service music will be played by Jennifer Hed on the piano.
The Congregational Church of Westminster West is located at 44 Church St. in the village of West West. The building is fully accessible and the congregation, a member of the United Church of Christ, is Open and Affirming. Visitors are warmly welcomed!
