BRATTLEBORO >> Christian James, 51, formerly of Brattleboro, received a jury trial in January on one count of sexual assault and one count of domestic assault. During the trial, a hung jury could not return a verdict on the sexual assault charge, but acquitted James of domestic assault. According to the Windham County State's Attorney's Office, a new trial is pending.

June 3

• The Windham County Sheriff's Office attempted a traffic stop of an ATV operating illegally on a public highway. The operator was later identified as Jesse Class, 26, of Vernon. Class was later cited attempting to elude a police officer.

June 19

• At 6:30 p.m., the Brattleboro Police Department responded to an address on Fairview Street for a welfare check. Upon arrival it was determined that the subject of the welfare check was deceased. The investigation is ongoing, however, the death does not appear to be suspicious in nature. At this point no further information is being released pending notification of family members. June 23

• At 2:30 p.m., the Vermont State Police responded to Route 100 in Londonderry for the report of a two vehicle crash. Troopers determined David C. Fenton, 21, Londonderry, was speeding when he read ended a vehicle being driven by Kimberly Clayton, 36, of Londonderry, as she was turning left. Further investigation revealed that Fenton was under the influence of drugs. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI drugs. He was also issued a speeding ticket.
