BRATTLEBORO >> The Brattleboro Police Department is investigating an act of arson that occurred at a residence on Clark Street on July 3 at 1 a.m.

According to a press release, an investigation by police showed that an individual had attempted to light the building on fire but the resident of the home was able to extinguish the blaze before significant damage could result.

Police are reaching out to the public for assistance in locating the individual or individuals involved in this crime. If anyone has information about this crime, they are encouraged to call Det. Greg Eaton. People may also anonymously call the BPD tip line at 802-251-8188.

Police were assisted on scene by members of the Brattleboro Fire Department and Rescue Inc.

July 5

• The Vermont State Police is investigating a burglary that occurred to a number of homes on Forrester Road in Jamaica and Stratton. These burglaries are believed to have occurred sometime over the Fourth of July weekend. Anyone who observed suspicious activity or is aware of anything suspicious in the area should contact Trooper Matthews at 802-254-2382.

July 6

• Following an investigation after receiving reports of a disorderly neighbor, the Vermont State Police Gregory M. Benedict, 51, of Londonderry, was cited with disorderly conduct.

According to a press release, residents of Magic Circle in Londonderry told troopers that Benedict has been harassing and threatening them for months, to the point they were concerned for their families' safety.

All persons named in the Police Log are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
