Dec. 19

• The Brattleboro Police Department responded to a downtown business for a purse snatching. When police arrived the suspect had left the area and police were unable to locate him. On Dec. 22, police responded back to the business because the suspect had come back. When police arrived they made contact with Wayne Pencek, 24, of Brattleboro. He was arrested and cited with retail theft.

Dec. 22

• The Windham County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on Fort Bridgman Road in Vernon. Upon arrival, deputies found a 2006 Toyota Prius had struck a utility pole leaving wires dangling in the roadway. Carol A. Schulze, 60, of Vernon, the sole occupant, was still in the vehicle. She remained in the vehicle until Green Mountain Power was able to neutralize the wires. Alcohol, drugs and distracted driving do not appear to be factors in this crash. No criminal charges are pending at this time. Fort Bridgman Road was closed for approximately one hour as a result. The Vernon Fire Department, the Brattleboro Fire Department and Rescue Inc. assisted.

Dec. 24

• The Keene, N.H., Police Department responded to a motor vehicle accident on West Street. As a result, Elizabeth P. Hutchinson, 56, of Brattleboro, was cited with operating a vehicle with a suspended or revoked license.

All persons named in the Police Log are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
