Bellows Falls

-- On May 26, Bellows Falls Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Rockingham Street for a minor motor vehicle offense. Police arrested the operator, Albert L. Hutchins III, of Charlestown, N.H., for DUI. Hutchins was released on citation to appear at a later date.


-- On May 26, Ian Dugger, 19, of Bloomfield, Conn., Samuel Marino, 18, of Bloomfield, Conn., and Luke Hagearty, 20, of West Hartford, Conn., were arrested by the Windham County Sheriff’s Department for possession of marijuana. The three were stopped on Route 100 for driving with an obstructed windshield. An investigation revealed the three were in possession of marijuana. All three were processed and cited to appear at the Vermont Superior Court Criminal Division at a later date. The Dover Police Department assisted with the arrest. This arrest was made by the Windham County Click It or Ticket Task Force, which was deployed during the Memorial Day holiday in search of occupant restraint violations.


-- On May 24, Roger L. Dunham Jr., 38, of Putney, was arrested by the Windham County Sheriff’s Department for driving with a suspended license. Dunham’s vehicle was stopped just before 4 p.m. for driving with a homemade license plate. Investigation revealed Dunham’s license had been suspended. He was arrested and later cited to appear at the Vermont Superior Court Criminal Division at a later date.


-- On May 24, Vermont State Police stopped a vehicle for a violation. Investigation revealed that the operator, Nicholas Liker, 20, of Springfield, had been drinking alcohol. Although he was under the legal limit for DUI, he was charged with a minor consuming alcohol. He was cited to appear in the Windham County Superior Court Criminal Division on a later date.


-- On May 24, Vermont State Police conducted a traffic stop with a speeding vehicle on I-91. During the course of the traffic stop, it was determined that the operator, Anthony Gotavaskas, 29, of Brattleboro, initially gave false information to his identity as well as who the vehicle belonged to. Further investigation revealed that Gotavaskas had fled from the Meadow View halfway home on Linden Street in Brattleboro. After fleeing, he is believed to have broken into the home of the registered owner of the vehicle, took the vehicle’s keys and began to drive northbound on I-91.

Gotavaskas was issued a citation for operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent and ordered to appear in court at a later date. Brattleboro Police Department will be conducting the burglary investigation that occurred at the residence. Gotavaskas was taken to the hospital and remained there with Brattleboro Police.


-- On May 25, Vermont State Police received a report of a motor vehicle crash on Sadawga Road. Upon the trooper’s arrival, he observed a 1998 Subaru Legacy with extensive front end damage. Investigation revealed that the operator of the vehicle, Judah Kondracki, 17, of Whitingham, was traveling on Sadawga Lake Road and encountered an approaching vehicle, which appeared to be traveling in his lane. Kondracki told the trooper that he panicked and steered his vehicle off the road. Kondracki struck several objects in the front yard of one of the residences after leaving the roadway. Heartwellville Towing responded and removed the vehicle.
