Post 5 goes 2-2 over weekend

BRATTLEBORO -- The Brattleboro Legion baseball team went 2-2 over the weekend. Post 5 was swept by Rutland on Saturday and then won two games against Bennington on Sunday.

Jeff Kerylow scored every Brattleboro run in a 3-2 victory in Game 1 versus Bennington. Kerylow and Chris Lasch each had a pair of hits for the winners, while Cam Wright, Chris McAuliffe and George Atkins all hit safely.

With the score tied at 2-2, Kerylow delivered a two-out double in the bottom of the seventh, went to third on a wild pitch and went home to end the game on Wright’s infield single. Danny Richardson threw a six-hitter and went the distance for the victory.

Kevin Tao had a couple of doubles in Game 2, helping Brattleboro to an 8-6 decision over Bennington. Lasch, Wright and McAuliffe added one hit apiece.

Richardson pitched two innings of scoreless relief to get the save. Atkins, Wright and Hunter Smith also saw time on the hill.

Post 5 managed just four total hits during Saturday’s doubleheader, losing to Rutland 9-1 and then 3-0. Lasch, Kerylow, Wright and Atkins all had one hit on the day.

Kassidi Ramirez and Kevin Tao got the starts for Post 5 in those games.

Brattleboro (11-4) will host Hartford today on Tenney Field at BUHS at 5:30 p.m.
