Prescott vaults into history
WESTMINSTER -- Maci Prescott, 15, of Chester, became the first Vermonter to place at Nationals when she won the vault championship earlier this month in Bradenton, Fla.
Prescott, who trains at Le Studio Gymnastics and Dance in Westminster 14 hours per week as a level 9 gymnast, is a sophomore at New England Classical Academy in Claremont, N.H.
After doing well in the local invitational meets and the States, she qualified at the Regionals in Springfield, Mass., and this was the first time in 18 years that anyone from the Green Mountain State made it to Nationals. She then scored a 9.60 on vault to become the national vault champion.
Prescott is coached by Kathy St. Pierre and Brian Post. St. Pierre was just named USA Gymnastics coach of the year, and Le Studio was named the club of the year.
