Pride Interfaith Service to be hosted by Centre Church today

BRATTLEBORO -- The Brattleboro Area Interfaith Clergy Association is sponsoring a Pride Interfaith Service at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, at Centre Congregational Church in downtown Brattleboro. All are invited.

The Rev. Joe Amico of First Congregational Church, Rev. Peggy Yingst of Trinity Lutheran Church and Rev. Carra McFadden have planned the service, and they will be worship leaders along with Rupa Cousins of the Sufi community.

Peterson Toscano and the Pioneer Valley Gay Men’s Chorus will be in attendance, and will also perform "Jesus Had Two Daddies" in the evening at the Hooker-Dunham Theatre at 139 Main St. There are events throughout the month of June celebrating the LGBTQ community in Brattleboro.

Sunday worship at 10 a.m. on Sunday, June 16, will include the baptism of Richard Charles Goodwin, son of Jonathan and Christina Goodwin and grandson of Richard and Roxanne Hamilton. Richard is the fifth generation in the Hamilton family to be baptized at Centre Church.

The sermon, "Remember Your Baptism," will be delivered by the Rev. Carra McFadden. The sermon text is from Mark 1: 4-11 and Acts 10: 34-48.

Fellowship Hour will follow in the Fireside Parlor. The Special Offering for June will benefit the Brattleboro Area Walk-In Clinic and the United Church of Christ’s Wider Church Mission.

The Open and Affirming Task Force is inviting suggestions from members to be recorded in the comments book in the church library. Task Force members are Bob Pu, Don and Bev Webster, Marion and Darrel Daley, Rob Harnish and Patti Neubauer.
