Purple Gang remains unbeaten


LYNDONVILLE >> Jahyde Bullard ran for four touchdowns as the Bellows Falls varsity football team pounded host Lyndon, 48-8, on Saturday afternoon.

Bullard scored from one, seven, nine and 29 yards out for the Terriers, who took a 32-0 lead to halftime. Logan Cota chipped in with a one-yard rush to paydirt and was on the receiving end of Caleb Lisai's 37-yard TD strike. Hunter Holmes capped the scoring with a six-yard carry to the house.

With his team trailing 40-0, Marcus Reeb threw a four-yard touchdown pass to Justin Joyal to get the winless Vikings on the board. Reeb then found Olawale Junaid for a two-point pass.

The 6-0 Terriers will host Burlington on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Rutland 33, Brattleboro 0

RUTLAND >> The defensive line of Damion Baker, Austin Pearo, Brendan Crossman and Jack Ligon registered five sacks and limited the Colonels to just 49 yards of offense in the first half during a Division 1 varsity football game on Friday night at Alumni Field.

Bailey Peters fired a pair of TD passes to Kyle Cassarino to excite the home crowd. Peters, Jimmy Mee and Max Pockette all had one rushing touchdown for the Raiders (3-3).

Louis Capy had 137 yards on the ground to lead the Brattleboro offense, which was without injured tailback Cheick Diakite. BUHS quarterback Tony Martinez left the game in the third quarter with a leg injury.

The 2-4 Colonels will host Essex on Friday night at 7.


TOWNSHEND >> Freshman Sydney Hescock played in her first varsity game and also scored her first varsity goal as Leland & Gray outscored Bellows Falls, 7-1.

Ashley Bates (2 goals), Jessie Stockwell, Rachel Borgesen, Emma Densmore and Mariah Hazard also scored for the winners. Ashley Bates, Arin Bates, Maris Linder, Stockwell and Borgesen all set one up.

Leland & Gray keeper Kelsi Bostrom had another solid game, however she was fooled by Keri Ticino in the second half on a goal that was assisted by Hannah Dupois.

The Rebels improved to 9-2 overall while the Terriers fell to 0-11.
