Put healthy food on your table with 3SquaresVT

Friday September 21, 2012

Good Nutrition is extremely important. The high cost of food, fuel and health care are making it tough for many elders to make ends meet.

3SquaresVT is a program of the US Department of Agriculture. This program helps eligible Vermonters access dollars for healthy food. 3SquaresVT is open to everyone who qualifies, including individuals, families, seniors, and people with disabilities. Eligibility is based on household income. Maximize your benefits by claiming all the deductions you can. People who are over 60 or have a disability can claim many different medical expenses. There are no "stamps" anymore. The benefits come on an EBT card that looks like other credit or debit cards used at stores. If everyone in your household is 65+ or gets SSI, you may be able to have your benefits as cash, deposited directly into your bank account. This message is funded in part by the USDA, an equal opportunity provider and employer.

If you are 60 or over, and would like further information on 3SquaresVT, call The Senior Helpline at 1-800-642-5119.
