POULTNEY - Leah Hanzas had three hits and also fired a four-hitter as the sixth-seeded Oxbow softball team trounced No. 1 Leland & Gray, 15-1, in the Division 3 championship game on Wednesday at Legion Field.

After taking a 1-0 lead in the first, the Olympians added three more in the third, five runs in the fourth and fifth, and one more in the top of the seventh. An RBI triple by Heather White and Cassie Hutchinson's two-run double were the biggest blows.

The lone run for the Rebels came in the fourth, as Elizabeth Symanski reached on an error, went to third on a passed ball and scored on Kelsey Bruder's single to left.

Ashley Goddard had a team-high two hits for the Rebels. Jackie Hazard and Bruder each hit safely.

Oxbow had defeated Williamstown, Rice and Enosburg Falls to get to the title tilt. The Olympians racked up 10 hits versus Leland & Gray, including three from Hanzas, and two each from Holly Lund and White.
