Retreat Farm hosts outdoor ballet

BRATTLEBORO >> Join Retreat Farm and Farm to Ballet Project for a summer evening celebration of arts and agriculture in southern Vermont.

Ticket proceeds will benefit the Retreat Farm Barnyard and the Farm to Ballet Project. Retreat Farm, Ltd. is a new nonprofit, with a mission to preserve the Retreat Farm's historic lands and farmstead while advancing a healthier, more resourceful greater Brattleboro community. The Farm to Ballet Project is a dance collaborative designed to celebrate the unique culture of New England farms while promoting a vibrant, local, and sustainable food system and introducing new audiences to the beauty of classical ballet.

The Farm to Ballet Project will perform an original outdoors ballet celebrating the seasonal story of a Vermont farm featuring live Vivaldi. All ages are invited to come enjoy food from local food trucks and tour the Retreat Farm's new educational garden beginning an hour before the show. Tickets are free for children 12 and under and $15 for adults (13 and up). Limited edition Retreat Farm merchandise will be available. More details and tickets for sale at retreatfarm.org/ballet. Ticket proceeds will benefit the Barnyard and the Farm to Ballet Project.

The event will be outdoors on the Harris Hill Ski Jump Field on Cedar Street on Aug. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. Garden tours and food will be available beginning at 5 p.m.
