Rev. Carra McFadden’s sermon on Sunday is ‘The Problem with Miracles’
BRATTLEBORO -- A special committee has been formed at Centre Congregational Church in downtown Brattleboro to work for the next few years on the "Strategic Investment in Sacred Spaces" program. Five churches were selected from the United Church of Christ in Vermont, together with five Episcopal churches. The program will involve outside consultations and reviews, under the leadership of Marion Abell and Jon Potter. Committee members are Holly Kennedy, Jenifer Ambler, Jack Bixby, Dart Everett and Julie Ball. The Rev. Carra McFadden and Bill McCarty, council chair, are ex-officio members.
Pastor McFadden will lead the 10 a.m. worship service on Sunday, Aug. 3. Her sermon title is "The Problem with Miracles," based on the text from Matthew 14:13-21. Lemonade on the lawn will follow and all are welcome.
Michael Mario, director of Christian Education, invites both youth and adults to explore several Bible stories in depth, on Aug. 6, 7 and 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. Vacation Bible School will meet in the Riverside Room. There will also be food, crafts and games.
