Rev. Carra McFadden’s sermon Sunday at Centre Church is ‘Facing Our Worldliness’

BRATTLEBORO -- Centre Congregational Church in downtown Brattleboro will observe the Third Sunday in Lent, as well as celebrating the Sacrament of Holy Communion at 10 a.m. worship on Sunday, March 3. The Rev. Carra McFadden will preach on "Facing Our Worldliness" based on the text from Matthew 6:19-21. Fellowship hour will follow in the fireside parlor and all are invited.

During Lent the Kidz Club will be exploring readings from both the Hebrew Scriptures and the New Testament, taking special time to delve into the meaning of Palm Sunday and Holy Week. Michael Mario is the director of Christian Education.

The Chancel Choir, under the direction of Christian Huebner, will begin rehearsing Schubert’s Mass in G. at Thursday evening and Sunday morning choir rehearsals.

Special offerings for March will support One Great Hour of Sharing and the sale of Easter cards will benefit the mission of Heifer International.

Beginning Sunday, March 3, at 9 a.m. in the church library, adult class will begin a new book study about Islam, based on "What Everyone Needs to Know about Islam" by John L. Esposito.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry continues to meet every Monday at 4:30 p.m., Womanspirit meets on Thursdays at 4:30 p.m., and Wednesday Night Bible Study begins at 7 at the home of Gisela Robeck, 63 Green Meadow Road in West Brattleboro.

The Loaves and Fishes hot meal site serves all in need from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Fridays in Memorial Hall. On the first Wednesday of each month, Chartwell’s Dining Service, based at Landmark College, donates food items to help provide lunch for the 100 or more recipients who enjoy these meals provided by teams of volunteers.
