Rev. Dr. Marcia Dorey to lead vespers at Halifax Union Society

Saturday July 7, 2012

HALIFAX CENTER -- Sunday Vespers on July 8 at 6:30 p.m. will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Marcia Dorey at the Halifax Union Society. The building is located at the crossroads on the hillside of Halifax Center, east on Jacksonville Stage Road from the Town Hall and school in West Halifax.

Merrillyn Courser will accompany hymns of joy, reflection, prayer, and solace. All are welcome. Refreshments will follow.

A press release from Halifax Union Society states: "Our pastor once asked rhetorically what kind of place we are. We discussed seven answers, two from Hebrew Scripture and five from the New Testament. As Noah discovered, we are indeed an ark of refuge, and in the words of Psalm 127 we depend on God. We are also blessed, we are a place of care and respect, and we are a place for those in need, for seekers, and for peace. Like a family, we strive to be open, friendly, and compassionate."
