Rev. Hamm’s meditation Sunday at Newfane’s First Congregational Church is ‘Come Out!’


NEWFANE -- The First Congregational Church of Newfane will observe the 5th Sunday of Lent and the sacrament of communion on Sunday, April 6, at the 10 a.m. worship service. The title of the Rev. Robert Hamm’s meditation is "Come Out!" with scripture from the Gospel of John, chapter 11 and verses 1-7, 17, 20-27, 33-45.

The choir will sing the offertory anthem, "Here, O My Lord, I See You" by Bonar/Langran. The prelude "A Lenten Melody" by Gilbert Martin and the postlude "Paean" by Roy E. Nolte will be played by organist/music director Martha LaMoria. Congregational hymns are "O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing," Softly and Tenderly" and "Now Let Us from This Table Rise."

Events for the upcoming week include Al-Anon at 7:30 p.m. on Monday; Sew What’s at 5 p.m. on Tuesday; Monthly Senior Lunch (shepherd’s pie) at noon, Bell rehearsal at 5 p.m. and choir rehearsal at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The April Mission of the Month is the West River Habitat for Humanity. Ongoing contributions of non-perishable food to the Townshend Food Shelf are needed.

The Newfane Church is handicap accessible by both elevator and chair lift and all are welcome.
