Rev. Ivy Merrill will lead congregation at Christ’s Church through October

SAXTONS RIVER -- Christ’s Church announces that the Rev. Ivy Merrill will be leading the congregation as "Transitional Pastor" through October of this year. Rev. Merrill has been the visiting pastor many times in the past and the congregation welcomes her and looks forward to sharing time together.

Rev. Merrill lives in Keene, N.H., with her husband, the Rev. Mark Ferrin, and their two college-age daughters. She has served as a Transitional Minister in 16 churches in three states, serving both UCC and ABC congregations for the past 30 years.

This Sunday, Aug. 17, the church will have its annual outdoor service at the home of Roberta and Franklin Geist on Hitchcock Hill in Saxtons River. The service will begin at its regular 10 a.m. time, rain or shine, and will be followed by a potluck luncheon and the monthly congregational meeting. The service is one that focuses on Creation and nature’s beauty through praise, scripture readings, hymns and quiet reflection. Anyone needing directions or more information may call 802-869-3300.

The Blue Door Kids’ Free Summer Lunch Program held in the church dining room has gone well this summer and has one week remaining. Jane Cook and her volunteer helpers are appreciated, as well as to those who have made food and money donations.

The following Sunday, Aug. 24, the worship service will return to the sanctuary at 10 a.m. Christ’s Church is handicapped accessible and all are welcome. For further information call 802-869-2340 and leave a message.
