Rev. Joseph Amico’s sermon Sunday at First Congregational is ‘Your Are Mine’
BRATTLEBORO -- Jan. 13 is Baptism of the Lord Sunday at First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, 880 Western Ave. in West Brattleboro. The Rev. Joseph Amico’s sermon will be "You Are Mine," based on Isaiah 43:1-7. Organist William McKim will play the church’s 111-year-old tracker pipe organ.
The prelude will be "How Brightly Shines the Morning Star" by Buxtehude and postlude "Praise to the Lord" by Diemer. The offertory anthem, directed by Steve Rice, will be "I Will Guide Thee" arranged by Amidon. Congregational hymns include "I Was There to Hear Your Borning Cry," "God, When I Came into This Life" and "Go My Children, With My Blessing." Guitarist Jeff Brewer will play Gathering Music.
The monthly pancake breakfast will be on Jan. 13 from 8 to 9:30 a.m. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, muffins, breakfast casseroles, scrambled eggs, fruit, orange juice, and other beverages. This is free and open to the public, no reservations are necessary.
Sunday worship at First Congregational is at 10 a.m. with Sunday School during the worship hour for pre-school through grade 6, and child care for younger children. Following worship there is a Fellowship Hour in the Fireplace Room. For those with disabilities, there is a ramp leading to the Sanctuary and Fireplace Room level, as well as large-print hymnals and bulletins. For a ride to worship call 802-254-5422.
