Richards is 35th female finisher in NYC Marathon


BRATTLEBORO >> Tammy Richards, of Williamsville, was the 35th female finisher and was clocked in 2:56:29 in the New York City Marathon on Sunday.

Kenya's Mary Keitany was the female champion in 2:24:25. Richards was the 10th female finisher from the United States, behind Laura Thweatt (7th), Teresa McWalters (13th), Roberta Groner (19th), Hilary Como (20th), Megan Jaswell (25th), Ildiko Gaal (26th), Veronica Jackson (27th), Janet Collar (31st) and Ana Johnson (32nd).

Richards, 41, was the 54th female finisher in last year's New York City Marathon. She ran that race in a time of 3:01:09.

Richards participated in a number of Fun Runs this summer on Upper Dummerston Road. She wound up fourth overall in the 2013 Bill Powers Memorial Firecracker 4-Miler in Brattleboro, in a 6:18/mile pace. She later took 13th overall in Brattleboro's 2013 Turkey Trot in 18:54.
