Road closed after possible meth lab explosion in Hinesburg

HINESBURG (AP) - Vermont State Police say a road in Hinesburg has been closed while troopers investigate was is believed to be a methamphetamine lab where a 19-year-old Vermont man was injured in an explosion.

Police say there is no immediate threat to the public on Wednesday along Texas Hill Road, but all necessary precautions are being taken while state and Hinesburg police investigate along with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

Jacob Berino was hospitalized Tuesday after neighbors reported the explosion. Hinesburg police say Berino is in fair condition.

Neighbors said they heard a "pop" just after noon Tuesday at a home, which sounded different from gunfire.

State Police referred further questions about the case to the U.S. Attorney's office in Burlington.
