’Difficult Questions’ will be sermon topic Sunday at Dummerston Congregational
DUMMERSTON -- Worship at the Dummerston Congregational Church is at 9:30 a.m. on Communion Sunday, Aug. 4. All who seek to follow Jesus are welcome to this sacrament of grace. The special offering will go to the Deacons’ Fund to help provide assistance to Dummerston families in need. The fund has had more use in the last six months than in the last four years, and is in need of substantial replenishment.
The Scripture readings are from Ephesians 5 and 6. The sermon is "Difficult Questions." Children will continue their focus on Bible Basics with the story of David and the 23rd Psalm. Children begin in worship and then go to an open classroom, returning to their families for communion, which they receive at the discretion of their parents. The guest musicians this Sunday are Bruce and Caleb Freeberg, offering Celtic and Gospel music on a variety of stringed instruments.
The church continues its annual summer food drive for the Drop-In Center Food Pantry. The goal is 1,500 pounds of food staples, personal hygiene items and household goods by the end of August.
The Pastor Susanna Griefen will be away from Aug. 5 through 19. For pastoral care, call the church office and the call will be forwarded to the deacon on-call who will reach the pastors who are covering.
The church is located at 1535 Middle Road, Dummerston Center. It is a Green Justice Congregation of The United Church of Christ. For more information about this energetic, faithful, friendly and mission-oriented church, contact Pastor Griefen, 802-257-0544, firstname.lastname@example.org.
