’I’ll Die No More for Bread’ to be sung Sunday at Guilford Church
GUILFORD -- Tony Barrand will lead the choir on Sunday, Oct. 7, at 10 a.m. at Guilford Community Church, U.C.C. He will offer two anthems, one a favorite reprise of the Prodigal Son, "I’ll Die No More for Bread" and the other, a favorite folk tune "We Are Crossing the River" by Bill Staines. The service will open with a puppet show and another anthem led by Ellen Peters with the Sunday School children, "All I Really Need," to which they have added a verse to remind the congregation of their collection for the Reformer Christmas Stocking.
The scripture for the day to be read by Bill Finnerty features two stories of restoration, one the story of Joshua and the Israelites crossing the Jordan and the other the parable in Luke of the Prodigal Son. Pastor Lise Sparrow will offer reflections on the theme of "What Is Fair?" After church, pies, baked beans and potato salad left from today’s pie sale will be on sale.
