’Mountains and Valleys’ will be Rev. Hamm’s service in Newfane

NEWFANE -- The First Congregational Church of Newfane will meet at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10 when Rev. Robert Hamm’s sermon will be "Mountains and Valleys". The scripture lesson is from the Gospel of Luke 9:28-43. Congregational hymns are "O Worship the King", "Jesus on the Mountain Peak" and "Sing Praise to God Who Reigns Above". Martha LaMoria, organist/music director, will play the prelude "Nocturne from A Midsummer Night’s Dream" by Felix Mendelssohn and the postlude "Postlude on Sicilian Mariners’ Hymn" arranged by Stewart Landon. The organ offertory will be "The Lost Chord" by Arthur Sullivan, also played by Mrs. LaMoria. Following the worship service, the annual Financial Meeting will be held in the church sanctuary.

Events for the upcoming week include the EES Playgroup from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and Al-Anon at 7:30 p.m. on Monday; the AAUV luncheon at noon and Sew What’s at 5 p.m. on Tuesday; Ash Wednesday service at 6 p.m. for a simple supper and short service on Wednesday; Monthly Senior Luncheon at noon (Spinach Lasagna with Meatballs, Garlic Bread and Cream Cake) on Thursday. The new addition to the church will be dedicated during worship on Sunday, Feb. 24.
